King Turd got stuck in his poop-phase. Every year he calls on the Minister of Interior Poop Affairs to organise the Big Poop Contest. From his balcony he watches as the contestants march by with their delightful poop art. Whose name will be chiselled into the memorial stone for the winners of the Big Poop Contest this time?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR

In 1998 Guido van Genechten won the illustrator’s award of the city of Hasselt with Rikki. Ever since he has been creating new characters to win over the hearts of toddlers worldwide. His books have been sold in more than 30 countries. Die groot boude-boek is a favourite of which more than 160 000 copies have been sold already.

ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR:

Shané Kleyn (1986) has been working at Protea Book House since 2010. She has translated more than 40 children’s books from various languages, including several other titles by Guido van Genechten such as Because I love you so much, Omdat ek so lief is vir jou, Die groot boude-boek, Die groot drukkie-boek, Die groot slaap-boek, Die wikkelboude-dansie, Dirkie, Dirkie en Annie, Dirkie en die eekhoring and Dirkie en sy vriendjies. Her other translations from Dutch include Die wraak van Knor (Tosca Menten & Elly Hees), Die vlieënde Hollander (Niels Rood & Yke Reeder) and Die voëltjies se ABC (Piet Grobler).
