BACKGROUND

Everyone says Toby is cute. But Toby is tired of being cute. He wants to change his image. He starts with a pair of shades, but they don’t seem to do the trick. He will have to find other ways to look tough. When he nearly crashes his motorcycle right into the Zebra crossing, Toby is struck by love at first sight. Will his tough-guy image impress this girl?

Lida Dijkstra (1961) is a well-known author of children’s books. She lives in Friesland, the Netherlands.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

Marije Tolman (1976) studied graphic arts at the Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague. She is a world-renowned illustrator of books like Het krijtje, Schattig, Een zusje uit een vliegtuig and Koe en Haas. Schattig was nominated as children’s book of the year 2008 by the Kinder- en Jeugdjury Vlaanderen. Mejuffrou Muis en haar lieflike huis was crowned with a “Vlag en Wimpel” the same year. De boomhut, a book she illustrated for her father in 2009, received the prestigious Ragazzi Award and was given a “Gouden Penseel” in 2010.
